Ferrovial is one of the world's leading infrastructure groups in terms or earnings and market capitalisation (over 10 billion euro), with more than 100,000 employees.
Ferrovial is one of Europe's leading specialists in the design, construction, financing, maintenance and management of infrastructure. Expansion of the Group has driven it to seek new markets, eventually leading to the creation of a multinational group with a stable presence in 45 countries, with 100,000 employees in Europe (Spain, Ireland, UK, Poland, Portugal, Italy, Greece and Switzerland), North America ( USA and Canada), Australia, Asia and Latin America (mainly in Chile). The focus on growth, which is a priority of the business strategy, is underpinned by a major investment programme aimed strongly at international expansion.
The purchase of the British airports operator BAA in 2006 realized a decisive step towards the internationalization of Ferrovial. In 2006, 72% of the EBIT of the Group came from outside Spain. The UK, with 45% of the total, is the country which contributes most to this figure, contrasting with 28% from Spain and 15% from Canada and the United States. The UK market has in effect become the new domestic market.
